What is The Insaneo Blaineo Foundation

The Insaneo Blaineo Foundation was founded in 2015, four months after my son’s passing. I really struggled with finding a name for the foundation - a name to truly encompass and commemorate my son, Blaine Schulz. One day, my daughter said “Why don’t you call it the Insaneo Blaineo Foundation?” “What?", I quickly responded. “Well, when he was having one of his goofy moments, his friends would say ‘Blaine is just having an Insaneo Blaineo Moment.” It stuck.

Blaine was a caring, fun-loving, hard-working individual who loved to lift weights and be with his friends. One of his sayings was simply “DO GOOD” and his favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who gives me strength."

Like Blaine, the Foundation’s purpose is to “DO GOOD” for our local Des Moines community by bringing friends together to participate in fun-filled, active events. We have a growing list of fundraisers, which raise money for education, awareness, materials, and services for 3 causes: Asthma, Diabetes and Families of Fallen Soldiers.

- Jeff Schulz, Founder

Why asthma, diabetes and families of fallen soldiers?

Blaine battled with chronic asthma most of his life and found out he had Type 1 diabetes four months before his passing.  Blaine passed away on September 13, 2015 from Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis. The third cause, families of fallen soldiers, is one Blaine had an indirect relationship with. Both of his Grandpas were in the military. One fought in WWII with the Army, under General George Patton, and the other in the Korean War with the Marine Corps and eventually ended up as a Colonel. He was extremely proud of both and the dedication they gave to their country. We believe all three causes deserve more education and awareness, as well as financial support for materials and services.

our mission

To serve the youth in the Des Moines metro area affected by asthma and diabetes and to serve the families of fallen soldiers. Funds raised will be put towards providing the youth with tools and supplies to better manage their illness(es) or to provide a scholarship for a child of a fallen soldier.
