Blaine Leslie Schulz; a friend, nephew, cousin, grandson, older brother, and son was born on June 18th, 1990 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Blaine grew up and lived the majority of his life in Iowa. He was a die-hard Iowa Hawekeye fan. He also loved the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs. Besides sports he had an intense passion for drawing and cinema. He loved his movies... and popcorn! If he wasn’t shopping or making sure his Chevy truck was as clean, or cleaner, then he bought it, you probably would have found him at the local gym. Blaine had a lively personality, sometimes too lively, and that would usually lead to an “Insaneo Blaineo” moment. The people who knew Blaine best, knew he was a loving, caring, and giving human being.

Blaine battled asthma and, at times, had to work through mental and emotional issues. Through it all, he remained a reliable and hard worker. Four months before his passing, Blaine discovered he had Type 1 diabetes. It was a shock for both him and his family, but in true Blaine fashion, he was ready to battle that too. Blaine passed away on September 13, 2015 from Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis.

Jeff Schulz, Blaine’s father, created the Insaneo Blaineo Foundation to keep Blaine’s spirit alive and to honor his life through serving the youth in need.  And as for me, Blaine’s cousin, growing the foundation and making it prosper will be a passage to start filling the void left in my soul after his passing.  We will make him proud and make sure he is remembered forever.

The sun rises and the sun sets/The days seem longer without you here/But when the sun rises you rise with it/Breathing every breath with us/You are every word in a country song/every Hawkeye and Bears game/you are every cheer for the Cubs/Every Insaneo Blaineo moment that crosses our minds/You are always with us/Until we meet you at heavens gates with popcorn in hand, and your smiling face with your warm embrace/Fly high and continue to soar/Let our love give you roots/And help you find your wings.
